Re: Hood Clearance Problems

Thanks for the suggestion but I talked to Painless already and they don't have any diagrams or references for 67 GTO gauges only 68 and up.  There were no directions with the gauges and GM never made a wiring diagram for the 67 GTO gauges from what I have been told.  So far I have talked to YearOne, The Parts Place (who were no help and jerks, considering that is where I bought the gauges), Painless, two gauge restoration guys, and Auto Classic Gauges (who have been by far the most help).  I was just wondering if anyone here had any suggestions or experience with this same issue.

Check out my post under Pontiac called Hood Clearence Problem because I have a wiring question righ now on there.  Thanks.

I am having a HELL of a time getting my gauges to work after rewiring the Lemans.  I put a Painless harness in the car which worked great except for the gauges.  I converted the car from Lemans gauges over to GTO gauges but I cannot get the gauges to read or work.  I can't seem to come up with the right combination of hooking the right wire (power, sender, ground) to the right post on the back of the gauges.  Can anyone help me out or give me some clues?  There are three posts on the back of the oil and fuel gauge with a resistor between the two horizontal posts and the temp gauge has four posts with a resistor between the two vertical posts.  Any help would be great.  I have been fighting this for over a month now and am at the end of my rope.  Thanks guys.

I never could get a set deal with the guy, so I walked away from the deal.  It would have been a fun project but I have moved on to Hot Rods and left the expensive builds like this behind for awhile.

That is B.S.  I wanted you to get a chance to finish the car up the way that it should be.  Ah, whatever I guess, you did some amazing work on it.

Hey thanks man.  I have been on Yearone's site but I have never noticed the fast ratio box before.  That looks to be what I was after so now one more problem solved and on to the next hundred problems that will come up.  Thats the fun of workin on cars but they are always worth it.

The current air cleaner on the car in the above picture works with everything.  I was finally able to get one that cleared the hood and worked with my throttle linkage.  Flaming River seems to be the only company with a quicker ratio manual steering box.  That suprises me because there are tons of choices for Mopar manual boxes but not really any for GM cars.  I am just finishing re-wiring the entire car and then it should be on the road if I get the steering box thing figured out.

Re: Need Donations For A Hot Rod Movie

I suppose depending on the size of your donation that would determine how big of a piece of the action you get.  Faith is just lookin for any help she can get with the funds right now and is planning on having signed shirts and movie posters here sometime down the road, after she covers her bases.  For a big enough donation $$$$$$$ maybe she would put your name in the credits or something.  I don't know, she is just a cool chic that needs all of us car guys help.  Fastdriver if you make a donation let me know and I will see if she can blow you a kiss or something from CA.  grin  How about that?  That last picture is her with her Deuce.

Need Donations For A Hot Rod Movie

February 21, 2009 by johnnyc

Hey guys, I know this really cool chic by the name of Faith Granger that is makin this awesome vintage hot rod movie called "The Deuce Of Spades".  It is going to be a sweet film but she is doing everything on her own and needs donations to try to finish up the movie.  She is getting close to having everything done.  The Deuce that is the main feature in the movie is her very own car that she drives and wrenches on daily.  She is just a bad ass chic and she works really hard.  She is good friends with Gene Winfield and a member of the long standing Sidewinders car club.  I think that anyone who likes movies and hot rods should try to donate.  Check out her site to see more pics of her, the deuce, movie trailers, and donate.  Thanks guys this is going to a great cause I believe.

After Lou left I don't really keep up with the show anyway.  I hope you, Lou and Brent can get something going.  He seemed like a cool guy and a great hand in the shop.

Does anyone know of a place that makes quick ratio manual steering boxes that would work on my Lemans? I don't want to switch to power steering but I would like a quicker ratio box.

Sweet brackets and 4-bar setup. I would interested in your brackets for sure. This project is coming along great. I don't see what was wrong with the frame it came in on. That was some top notch fabrication it looked like.

That sucks you were doin an amazing job on it. Just what you have done so far has given me a ton of ideas to work with. I hope it gets back to you so you can finish it and I hope that you keep going even in the tough economic times. You are by far in my opinion one of the best builders out there and the industry can't loose you. Awesome work on the Buick!!!

Here are the lastest picture of the car and the progress. I tore deeper into the car so I might have went backwards since my last pictures but it is for the best. I just installed the exhaust system, re-did and installed the gas tank, new rear shocks, repaired all rust in the trunk floor, and installed a hood tach. I am working on all the loose ends now and getting ready to rewire the entire car.

I figured out the link you put up for the HAMB. Thanks. It looks to be a Dodge I would say.

Re: 1928 Chrysler Coupe???

Hey, thanks for the help. I think that you are right it must be a Dodge not a Chrysler. I looked on the HAMB but did not find this post. That helps me out though. Thanks again.

1928 Chrysler Coupe???

December 20, 2008 by johnnyc

Can anyone tell me if this is a 1928 Chrysler coupe? That is what I have been told. It is hard to tell without the top but the guy I got it from is going to give me the top in a week or so. Maybe that will help. I need some help identifying it first. Maybe it is a different make. Help me out here guys. Thanks.

Your 70 GTO looks like another awesome car. I can't wait to see some more of it. Keep us updated with your progress on both Pontiacs.
