I picked up a pickup about a week ago. It's a 1971 Dodge D-100. I had a '70 similar to it back around 1974-76. I put nearly 100K on that puppy back then. This one is pretty rusty but I plan to go the rat rod route. I'm going to put a LLL pipe on it too. The exhaust runs down the right side but there's enough room to run a cut out and open pipe to the left side. Just the thing for Left Lane Loafers blabbing on their cell phones.
When I got in this the first time when it was sitting in a barn, it sounded the same when I shut the door and also sounded the same when I had it running. I don't know what color I'm going to paint it. Probably use a roller like on my other truck. Eventually the 318 might come out and a 440 will go in it's place.

I used to run a salvage yard in the early 80's. To me, Mustang II means PINTO since that's what the Mustang II was. A rebodied Pinto. Pintos were decent cars and you knew what you were getting. The Mustang II was a rip off trying to be more than it was.
I've got some police rims with slightly smaller tires that are going on as I rework the brakes. Cop car hub caps too. I'm trying to find an 8 foot step side bed for it. Dodge used the same bed from 1948 to 1985. The fenders were different after '53 but otherwise the bed was unchanged all those years. I've found a couple of 6 foot beds and one 9 footer off a 1 ton, but I want a balanced look. Ultimately, the truck will either be olive drab green or black.
