Hey Lou do you know who finished project overkill? Watching Muscle Car today and they are wrapping up the project. Don't care for the guys taking credit for doing the work without recognizing you, Jared and anyone else who did the work on the project.

Well watching a bit more of the episode it sounds like Year One did all the final touches on the car. Would have been better watching Lou take it for a spin.

Yeah the guys at Year One finished the car. The Mustang road racaer is gone because they couldn't finish it.

they dont have mad skills like you. I always learned something new from when you were on the show or how do something a little different than I usually would. I was hoping to see the mustang completed, but it is what is.

Okay I just saw the final episode of project overkill. I was lmao. When I need to check to see if my brake lights are working i take a towel and a rock and put on the brake pedal or if I don't have a big rock handy I take a wood clamp and run it down until it pushes the brake pedal in or wait until its dark. I couldn't believe he spent the time and made something to hold it down out of metal etc I mean are those guys serious? If that didnt take the cake it had to be where they did not give credit where credit is due!!! I could not stand to watch that episode because it was absolutely absurd about how those guys took credit for everything on the car. I was waiting for an 18 wheeler to come bellowing down the hill where they had the car parked in the middle of road and clobber it, are these hosts or characters for real? Musclecar has turned into a joke an HP TV is heading there as well, cant wait for fullmetal tv to be broadcast.
Almost forgot when the guys took the car for spin I thought they were idiots the way they were acting, I dont know if they're like that in reality or not but the show needs to do a way with entertainment factor and concentrate more on the aspects of the car and why they are doing things the way they are rather than showing briefly what they are doing then cutting to break then come back when they are done and then onto tools or w/e. I watch the shows to pick up new tricks and tips not for laughs. Although I thought Lou's last episode when he did the pranks was pretty good.
Sorry for the rant. Just my 2 cents

I bitched about Lou not getting credit in my opening post in the "Intro" forum.
I wondered what happened to the Mustang. Heh.
I know a lot of the guys at Year One, having worked there years back. My best friend still works there.
Just because you work there doesn't mean you're an expert. I always laugh when a TV show puts Keith Maney on the screen with "Musclecar Expert" or some such title below his name. Don't get me wrong--I like Keith just fine--but he's a Pontiac guy, and a marginal one at that. He knows not F__k One about anything other than Tin Indians, and even in that area, he's weak.
While we're on the subject, MuscleCar has always spread a lot of misinformation about musclecars, particularly in the segment where they spotlight a particular car. I don't blame the hosts--they're reading what they're handed--I blame their research department who apparently regard rumor as fact and use fanboys as a reference rather than actual experts.
They need to lose that segment entirely, and change the name of the show to "Projects You Could Never Possibly Hope to Achieve in the Average Garage with Your Miserable Tools." And I have a pretty damned-good garage setup, but the average guy can't do half that stuff. I was excited when that show debuted, thinking it would be about restoring cars. It's not... it's about building unrealistic projects. I'm not going to build an altered-wheelbase car anytime soon, or an LS1-powered F-body that's got about 10% of its original mechanicals left and $30K in aftermarket stuff on it. The man in the street wants to build something he can realistically do and enjoy with the family. Maybe you do, but I don't have an unlimited car budget.
Checking my brake lights? I push the pedal and look in the rearview mirror. I can pretty-much tell by the wall behind me whether they work.

I don't know, guys. They showed Lou and Jared working on it so I don't think they took all of the credit. Most everyone who watches those shows knows what's what. Yeah, they have gone Hollywood, but it's still entertaining. Those kind of shows have always been advertising. Unfortunately, they don't have the talent on the shows any more like they used to. I still watch because they still are entertaining.
And I do like the fact that they are doing easy stuff for those who are just starting out.

I forgot to mention I do the wall thing to with the brake lights lol. If I wanted to laugh and be entertained by a car show I would watch Lou's last episode or Top Gear on BBC America. Now a show that catered to the everyday joe was called Shade Tree Mechanic when Spike was TNN. I grew up with that show, instead of Saturday morning cartoons I always had on Shade Tree and Horse Power TV.

Ok, I have got my logs to toss on the fire! The stupid brake light thing aside. I just thought there sould have been areal road/track test done. With all the high tech suspension and brakes, and that big ass Hemi. That could have been a whole show right there. I know the (lack of payoff) subject is getting old but I'm starting to think these projects are a nothing more then a joke that were never ment to be completed. I understand that the car doesn't belong to the show, so they can't beat the tar out of it but is not a China Doll, and all the companys that throw thier parts into that thing are getting cheated.

Guys,
Here is the deal the show (Muscle Car) is going to become more like Horsepower. The reason is simple the people who own RTM have one thing in mind how much money can we make. I'm not saying that to be mean it is just a simple fact. They didn't like the fact that I built cars. The thing that broke Jareds' back was when we were told "I can't make money on this show because you guys don't uses the vendors you should use and you make everything" Two weeks later it was just me. I did 2 years there, I would have stayed longer but it was just time to go.

To sum it up in two words CORPORATE GREED

I really hate that term and all it implies. I don't know how it's greed. In reality, they have to make as much money as they can while they can. Who knows how long it will last? Honestly, I've never really seen many shows that can keep up excellecne much longer than two or three years. They are running out of steam. Too bad they couldn't find a compromise between fabrication and product placement. There's plenty of fab in the Xtreme shop and they still find room for products.
Really, they should cut back to one hour, maybe one and a half. They've got to get some new ideas in there. Frankly, they have already done all of the big block Chevys I can stand. I'd like to see something unconventional, but I guess that's walking into my territory...

Merlin, They are not running out of steam. The problem is simpler than that they don't care about what you the end user thinks about the show. I wanted to do some cool stuff but I was told no regularly.

Lou, I'm seeing it on other non rtm shows too, one other that comes to mind. The payoffs have gone the way of the Doe Doe bird. Its bad enough I cant seem to finish a project. Its like a stripper coming out , and going down to her tee shirt and walking off the stage .

I guess what I meant by running out of steam is that they keep doing variations of the same thing. I know that they have to pay the bills and make some money by pimping stuff, but they continually go back to the same well. Year One and the like.
Man, I wish they would do something different with what they have. It's not impossible to take something from a vendor and make it work in a totally different way than originally envisioned by the vendor.
I know Stacey with Gearz is getting to do plenty of fab along with keeping vendors happy.
Maybe you and I are talking about the same thing, Lou, just in different ways...

I do not like watching Horsepower as it is just one giant commercial. "We are installing the Edelbrock heads/intake+ Holley carb on our Summit Racing small block using ARP fasteners and lubricating with Royal Purple . Afterwards , we will clean up with Goop soap and Scott shop towels...." I liked Musclecar when Lou was on as he showed you how to fab stuff and got your creative thinking going. I know ya gotta mention sponsors but damn....

Ain't it though? Lou has a personality which seems to be sadly lacking on the PowerBlock except for maybe Ian on Extreme 4x4.
