I'm wondering whether or not i should buy this toronado. The guy's asking $600 for it but it's been in craigslist for 6 months or so. here's the post of it.
1966 olds toranado - $600 (wilton)
will start with starter reinstalled. bill of sale only, out of dmv system. selling due to illness. good project or parts car.

Three questions. Do you want it? Can you afford it? Is it worth it?
Do you want it? Obviously you do, otherwise you wouldn't be asking.
Can you afford it? See above.
Is it worth it? That begs another three questions. What do you want it for? How hard is it to aquire? How good a mechanic are you?
What do you want it for? A hotrod? A daily driver? A for profit resto?
How hard is it to aquire? Is it a long tow to get it? What paperwork does your DMV require? Was it perhaps listed as scrap/stolen?
How good a mechanic are you? 'nuff said.
IMHO, if I was in the slightest bit interested in that body style, had the free cash on hand, the garage space to park it, and lived within 100 miles .... it would already be gone.

Yes i can afford it. I want it as a hot rod so that i could take it up to Hot August Nights this summer. It's not that far away, im in Sacramento and it's in Wilton, CA so between 20-40 miles. I'm a pretty good mechanic, my uncl used to buy cars fix 'em up and sell them again so i'd always help. Plus my step-dad is the all knowing one, he can fix just about anything, Body work mostly but i want to take up engine work. I think all the DMV requires is a Lights and Brake test.

Then I think you've answered your own question. Get the VIN, have the DMV run it to confirm it's clean, and rent a u-haul.We're all waiting with baited breath your before and after photos.

a U-Haul doesnt work, i looked up the weight the trailers could take and none worked, i think the toronado is a 2.5 ton car. So i either have to drive it back if it'll run or then have one of teh big tow trucks get it

Last time I saw numbers like that, someone smacked a bottle of champagne across it and slid it into the ocean.
