A few things I'm working on. A '70 Monte Carlo USAC Dirt Car, a '66 Chevelle Asphault car, a '68 Chevy C30 tow vehicle. The paint scheme is loosely based on both the Earnhardt '56 Ford K-2 Pink car and Smokey Yunicks Black and Gold #13 race cars, specifially the infamous "7/8ths scale" car that started the whole template thing.

I bet there is a ton of time in one of those models. Almost as much as a real car build. Outstanding work Longbox

Hey, Longbox, is there a place to get models like that online?

I've got a few laying around, but I wouldn't mind getting some of projects I want to do. Most of them are going to require two or three models, such as the Pontiac Can-amino and the AWD Dodge Shadow that are on the "drawing board."

Might help me whittle down to the one I want to start.

e-merlin, the Monte Carlo kit come from a company called Model King, and is a re-release of the original kit from the '70s. Pretty much any good hobby shop should be ale to get it. There's also a GTO and I beleive a '69 Chevell in the same series that were re-released as well. The chassis in generic enough that you could swap a Ford or MoPar body and engine in if you wanted to. The '66 Chevelle is more of a custom job. It was converted the hard way, starting with a Lindberg '66 Chevelle SS 396 (which has been recently reissued) and a Nascar Craftsman Truck chassis, plus a few bits from the parts box.
Unfortunatly, the '68 Chevy truck is not currently available, as the original toolong got updated to make the '69 (then the '70 and so on). The one I got was a very rough built up that is getting resto-modded. The closest current kit would be the AMT '72, whcih is a mix of parts from the AMT and MPC kits of the '72 Chevy. I have a couple of them, an early issue built basically stock, and a "Rides" isse that came with the big Dub wheels that's getting turned into a Camper Special. Other than the changes in the cab for the year, it is virtually identical to the '68. It can still be found easily, in both stock and Rides versions. The Rides version can't be built stock with the parts in the box (only comes with Dub wheels).
