Sorry I have been slow on updates. I have been swamped with work. I am putting a trunk pan and brace in it right now, redoing the gas tank, putting new shocks on it, and getting the car ready to be completely rewired. I am also trying to finish the frame on my 34 Ford Rat Rod Pickup. Lots of irons in the fire right now. I will posts some new pics of the car as soon as I wrap up some of the loose ends. Thanks for checkin in. Later.

Here are the lastest picture of the car and the progress. I tore deeper into the car so I might have went backwards since my last pictures but it is for the best. I just installed the exhaust system, re-did and installed the gas tank, new rear shocks, repaired all rust in the trunk floor, and installed a hood tach. I am working on all the loose ends now and getting ready to rewire the entire car.

Does anyone know of a place that makes quick ratio manual steering boxes that would work on my Lemans? I don't want to switch to power steering but I would like a quicker ratio box.

looking good. I like the filter you ended up going with.

I prefer the Quadrajet as well. Much better daily driver and better on fuel.

I have stuck to a low rise intake with a small spacer and can get the factory air cleaner in there.

Have you looked at www.classicindustries.com or www.yearone.com there is also www.opgi.com I have seen them on there for firebirds and elcaminos.I believe Kragen auto parts online might carry them, they did before O'riellys took them over.

Johnnyc have you considered a remote filter?Muscle car used one on a mid 80s camaro with a TBI I believe it was made by Spectre you might check that to see if it'll work.

The current air cleaner on the car in the above picture works with everything.  I was finally able to get one that cleared the hood and worked with my throttle linkage.  Flaming River seems to be the only company with a quicker ratio manual steering box.  That suprises me because there are tons of choices for Mopar manual boxes but not really any for GM cars.  I am just finishing re-wiring the entire car and then it should be on the road if I get the steering box thing figured out.

Hey thanks man.  I have been on Yearone's site but I have never noticed the fast ratio box before.  That looks to be what I was after so now one more problem solved and on to the next hundred problems that will come up.  Thats the fun of workin on cars but they are always worth it.

I am having a HELL of a time getting my gauges to work after rewiring the Lemans.  I put a Painless harness in the car which worked great except for the gauges.  I converted the car from Lemans gauges over to GTO gauges but I cannot get the gauges to read or work.  I can't seem to come up with the right combination of hooking the right wire (power, sender, ground) to the right post on the back of the gauges.  Can anyone help me out or give me some clues?  There are three posts on the back of the oil and fuel gauge with a resistor between the two horizontal posts and the temp gauge has four posts with a resistor between the two vertical posts.  Any help would be great.  I have been fighting this for over a month now and am at the end of my rope.  Thanks guys.

I take it the instructions were nonexistant or incomplete what ever the case get the part # for your harness and give Painless Performance a call for tech service and see if they can help ,just a suggestion what the heck you got to loose.I haven't used Painless so I don't anything about them. The two cars I've helped with wiring we used Factory Fit and they came ready to go no ends to put on just plug it in like the original but thats been awhile back now. Still try www.painlessperformance.com .

Thanks for the suggestion but I talked to Painless already and they don't have any diagrams or references for 67 GTO gauges only 68 and up.  There were no directions with the gauges and GM never made a wiring diagram for the 67 GTO gauges from what I have been told.  So far I have talked to YearOne, The Parts Place (who were no help and jerks, considering that is where I bought the gauges), Painless, two gauge restoration guys, and Auto Classic Gauges (who have been by far the most help).  I was just wondering if anyone here had any suggestions or experience with this same issue.

Are you using the correct sending units? I agree with you on yearone. I buy all my pontiac stuff from ames performance, they are friendly and quite helpful and cheaper than yearone.

Your sensors are going to be two wire( one side ground other side to gauge). Guages will need 12v switched ,output of sensor  and ground plus you should have a bulb with socket in them . The resistor poles  should be 12v on one side and output of sensor on other. Can you post some pics of the back of the gauges?

Johnny I didn't think of it last night but you might try Original Parts Group at www.opgi.com I've gotten into elcaminos and such and the've been a good resource for me.If they can't help here is one I found online but I don't know anything about them,www.osborn-reproduction.com hope this helps. At opgi.com look under literature for gto etc. They show that they have wiring diagrams for sale but if your wanting to know about the terminals on the back of guages chances are you'll probably have to call them.
