Guys, ever wonder what happens when someone who has heard about, but never driven a carbureted engine tries to start one?
I've been trying to sell an extra Jeep I've got and a kid wanted to drive it. He had heard you had to pump the gas pedal to get one started. Yes, you do. However, usually only once or twice, not 15 or more times. I got a can of starting fluid to help it get started when my sister called. After finally prying her off the phone, I came back and shot a short squirt of fluid into the intake. I thought I'd had a full can but it was half a can. I cranked that puppy over and it backfired. The picture shows what an exhaust backfire with LOTS of ether in it can do. I learned two things. My dog isn't gun shy. My neighbors dog is. The most irritating part of this is the muffler only had about 50 miles on it. That is why I hate selling cars.
